I’m just a machine

moving material from one place to the next

I have to stop midday for fuel

But the thoughts and plans

When I’m not moving material from one place to the next

Its only a matter of weeks and days till it’s done

But there’s a lot of material to move from one place to the next

Thank God I have tea bags.

Shelves Down

2 sets of shelves down.
Makes the Room look much brighter, but shows the dirty walls after years of being up there.

Another two trolley loads of metal scrap from the Lab.

1 cupboard and 2 shelves down, and this filled 6 crates....

I got a long way to go. :-(

FINALLY the Helium has arrived.
Aaaaaaaaand I got a shiny new Regulator (after MUCH fuss).
Now we can demo Bruce again :-)

Electrical Trolley

Very happy to get this sorted with Joes' help, with all the kit that's normally needed for basic electronics lessons.
All 'gratnelled' and labelled.

Made a 'buzz wire' for a students project about lie detecting.
No idea about his method, but WE got our buzz free time down to 25 secs. :-)
(Then Lewis smashed it with 20secs, so Im not playing any more)

New Building Visit

A group of us had a walk around.  Looking good!
Nice and bright.  Smaller than we have but all new and looking forward to it.
NOT looking forward to having to pack all the kit and sort it all out again at the other end though :-(

Electrical Cupboard

Attacked the Electrical Cupboard in the Darkroom with extreme prejudice.
Its now a thing of beauty.
Threw out loads as usual, but it took an AGE to sort through all the fiddly bits and bobs.

Shame I have to bag it all up and take it all out again for the move :-(

Lenses

Hit the Darkroom with Richard.  Got through loads of drawers and sorted tons of Mirrors, Lenses and Prisms.  Kept Full sets of whats actually needed and binned boxes full of old or broken stuff (below)

Gonna Need a Bigger Boat

An Inflatable Remote Controlled Shark.....to demonstrate......something or other....Who cares, I got an inflatable shark !

Gratnel Racks

Gratnel finally arrived !!!
Ripping out old shelves, putting in racks and filling / labeling the drawers :-)
I'm keeping the old shelves to be put up in my new room around the walls, as the Gratnel will be freestanding.

Workbench

Given that my new room will have less work space, I sorted my usual tools and kit and rationalized it down, then build a 'mobile' unit to house all my stuff that's more compact and will contain my everyday tools in a very organized way.

Going Green

Getting a bit of an algal bloom.  Flipping carpet algae too. I hate that stuff.

Darkroom

Had a massive clearout with the help of Lewis our Work Experience guy.
Got rid of drawers and drawers of old posters and paperwork.

Well, here's a few posts coming up about the last 7 months. Its incomplete, but gives an idea of whats been going on between doing the day job, clearing out legacy kit, reorganising the kit that's left, and prepping / packing for the move !!!
