Cleaning

I've made a clean spot.
Sometimes you don't know how dirty something is until you clean it.

A Thing of Beauty

Very to happy to have finally got around to doing this.
Cables dangled about and drove me nuts
After trying to build wooden 'shelf' design' which was a right pain, I stumbled onto a huge length of proper conduit 'in another room' :-).
Its rather large as its meant for major trunking in a room corner, but after "liberating" a short section (with a saw) and fiddling about with the desk I managed to get it to fit solidly on the desk and tidy all the mess away.

I also got the extension sockets fitted to the back of the desk. This not only gets it off the floor but also adds a 'Drip Loop' into the cable, so just on the very small chance water from the tank runs down the cable for some reason, its drips off the loop and not into the plug. :-)
I'm very chuffed with this.  A thing of Beauty!

Getting there.
Filter well seeded with Nitrifying bacteria from my home tank.
Water crystal clear
Fish in place and happy.
Adding a small Anubia plant soon.

Tools

After digging out all the tools scattered about, I gathered them together.
Broken tools got binned. Good stuff sorted out.
I emptied and cleaned the drawers under the workbench, and  used some cardboard inserts to sort the tools into intuitive sections.
SOOOO nice to be able to put my hands on tools as I need them !

Tank update

You can see here the way the tank has cleared nicely after a week of being left to circulate.
I'm yet to seed it with the filter medium from my home tank, so its interesting how the waters cleared with just good flow.

MEDIC !!!!

ow ow ow, flipping ow.....

Pull bulb from holder, bulb wont budge, pull harder, bulb suddenly comes out and little finger slices neatly across sheet metal bracket.

ow.

Here ! fishy fishy fishy....

Desk is now looking rather usable.
Aaaaaaaaaaaand I got the tank under way....  Serious planning going on there.  Heavily cleansed gold sand, tank scrubbed, light replaced, filter medium being colonized with correct bacteria in my home aquarium and rocks being soaked,  for a genuine Japanese "Iwagami" style Hardscape.
Just letting the water settle and clear before rock placement, so I know the sands been washed correctly.

Its just a shame the shop gave me the wrong damn light!  They gave me a white and blue one instead of white and pink which is correct for freshwater.  White and blue would cause huge algae growth, so back to the shop to swap that then.....

Scraaaaap Gloriooooous Scraaaaaaaap...

Another floor full of junked Electronics and scrap metal.  I think this is Trolley number five.  Didn't bother blogging about a couple of them....

How many now?

Yet another load.  Ive lost count.....

Archives....

Do we still need this?

More Scrap

Another trolley of scrap metal hidden under shelves, among it what can only be described as a 'horde' of old  microscopes there were "to be fixed" but are so old parts are unavailable or they were beyond repair anyway. So lenses and parts were scavenged and the bones of them went out the door.

Wheelie Wuthless

Like Attila the Hun sweeping across the open steppe, crushing my enemies, seeing them driven before me, and hearing the lamentations of their women....

Or to put it another way. Another wheelie bin rammed with dead electrical ready for the afterlife.

Seeing a pattern.

Another ancient artifact.

Similar to the "Shelf" of antiquities, this time a color variety.
Was buried DEEP beneath a cunning arrangement of flattened and dried wood pulp of ancient origin.

Loada rubbish this.

No, really, it is.
Another 5 bags.  I'm sure its all breeding when I go home though cos when I come back I cant see any difference :-(

Does not compute....

Ive uncovered something rather odd.  I don't recognize it.  Its large flat and grey.
A colleague has suggested its something called an "empty shelf" and is something not commonly seen in these parts....

Think it might be valuable, as it was very well concealed.....

Seeing wood for trees

Found the workbenches. 😊
Realizing what a huge task this is. Painstaking job picking through each and every little item.

Workbench 1
Very slowly grinding through all the tools, bits, junk and rubbish on the benches. Taking a long time as I'm picking out all useful kit like nuts and bolts etc.

Workbench 2
Some interesting chemicals found in amongst the tools on this one.....
I'll try and find a bucket and pour the whole bunch in together and see what happens....or....I might just take them over to the Chem lab :-)

Scrap

Huge pile of scrap off the floor. Makes it look better already.
Had to go through it a piece at a time to check noithing was being binned that was needed. Took 3 days to sort it.

Also binned an entire crate of dead electronics that were on the floor.

The room. The start.

Old school engineers Physics prep room......
My job to clear and sort it ready for next year.

Should be fun :-)
